Rachel Smith
Vice President and General Manager, Canada Low Carbon Hydrogen
Rachel Smith is vice president and general manager of Canada Low Carbon Hydrogen at Air Products. She focuses on the Company’s Edmonton Net-zero Hydrogen Energy Complex (ENZHEC) project including commercialization, government relations, customer relations, commercial contract management, business development, and Indigenous and community relations for the project.
Ms. Smith joined Air Products in 2013 as a senior plant process engineer in Edmonton, Alberta. In 2014, she was appointed to the HyCO account manager role and later moved into a commercial leadership role for the Canadian franchise. In 2019, Ms. Smith was promoted to director for the California and Canada HyCO business. In 2021, Ms. Smith was promoted to vice president and general manager, Canada, where she was responsible for driving the profitability and growth strategy of the company’s Industrial Gases and HyCO businesses across Canada.
Prior to joining Air Products, Ms. Smith’s professional experience included engineering, operations, and commercial roles in Canada’s energy sector. She worked for Suncor Energy in Fort McMurray, Alberta and Enbridge Pipelines in Edmonton, Alberta.
Ms. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemical engineering and master’s degree in engineering science, both from the University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from the University of Alberta.
